The Cat recently read Jenny Lawson's extremely funny "Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir." If The Cat's being honest, he'll admit he bought the book for its cover. After giving it a few licks, he flipped past the petrified Shakespearean mouse and found the inside far more tasty, epecially, but not only, the parade of animals, taxidermied and otherwise.
The book is written in Blog, that recently emerged literary style marked by much digression and snarky self-effacement. (Lawson brings the style to greater heights than The Cat's can-opener/owner.) The Cat felt the Blog style, which reads breezy and amusing in small daily doses, grew tiresome over the longer book length, but found Lawson's outlandish stories endearing, captivating and snort-inducing from start to finish.
